Saturday, May 29

It's 11:53 PM in Avingnon, France, and it's like crazy party time. I can hear Lady Gaga's Just Dance blasting from God knows where. I love this song, and am really excited to be hearing it. I was telling my parents over Skype how actually a lot of the music I've been hearing here is in english, and are also songs I usually recognize. I think it's probably because something like a french rapper makes absolutely no sense, and I think they they know our music is better. hahah. The europeans sure love their alcohol. I wouldn't really fit in here well in that sense. Good thing I'm just visiting then, I guess. K I have to go to bed I'll continue writing about my days here tomorrow or most likely when I'm in Paris. I'm like 4 days behind.. and I'm so sorry. Internet like.. doesn't exist here.

Until then...

May 25, Day 3

We had to get up at the crack of dawn to catch our train to Bordeaux. I still felt sick come morning time, and nearly was sick whilst trying to transport all of my luggage onto the train. Nonetheless I made it alright and was feeling quite better after the ride and once we were picked up by Johnny (I'll have a website of the place he owns, which is where we stayed, up sometime soon). It was a pretty relaxing day after we arrived at the complex. We just waited around for the other student and professor to join us. Johnny is quite the cook. He made incredible meals for us every night we were there. Not just a dinner meal, but appetizers, then a full dinner, then dessert every night. Not to mention breakfast and lunch everyday too. This days menu was as follows:
Appetizer: toasted bread with maple syrup, balsamic vinegar and olive oil with melted goat cheese
Dinner: Chicken cooked in red wine, green beans, & potatoes
Dessert: Pears poached in red wine with ice cream

Long story short, Johnny's a great cook, 3 dogs were there, we stayed in a huge 13th century monk house, and Johnny likes to make sure everyone got as much alcohol as they wanted. He is English, and I guess they do like their alcohol. Well all Europeans do. He actually loved that I love tea, and it was kind of funny when he would go around the table offering everyone drinks, then ask me if I wanted more tea. haha.

Unfortunately, much like the first night in Paris, I got no sleep again. Half of the people on this trip snore, and I kind of hate it. But it's okay because I'm doing better about it now. It still sucks though. I have to go now, we're getting ready to have another quick group meeting before dinner.

Aaaaaand I'm out. Bai.

May 23-24, Days 1-2

Sorry I haven’t been keeping you all updated, I’ve been unable to get my computer hooked up to the internet until now. I’ve actually been keeping a little journal of notes on what has been going on and such, but those are brief notes. And I did start a word document of just writing out in detail what I've done, but i've only written through 2 days so far and it's over 3 pages long. So I'll try and condense the sorts of things I said and what not...

May 23-24, Days 1-2

So leaving and such was easy, and the plane ride was alright until I discovered that I can't sleep sitting up and being on a plane definitely nauseates me. The whole jet lag thing hit me harder than anyone else, plus I'm sure that it didn't help that Mariah was sickly before I left and decided to poke her finger in my mouth a few days before I traveled. No hard feelings, I'll just force myself to be sick on her once I get back. HAHA JKJK. Anyways, after getting sick twice throughout metro transfers and eventually missing a train, we finally arrived at our improv hotel in Paris to stay in for the technically second night of the trip.

Just a little random tidbit, on the way to the airport, I was asking my parents if they think when I got to Paris I'd see a bunch of mimes and people wearing berets and eating bagguettes and playing the accordion. They said no. Plus I was just being silly. BUT-- lo and behold, when we were on a small tram going to the subway, a random guy was walking through all of the cars playing the accordion for everyone. so HA!

I've got to head out. We're going to ride bikes around in town and go to a wine tasting which should be interesting to have me around for.

A bientot!
